Hi everyone! Welcome to the main gateway for your course blogs. Here I'll post information relevant to everyone, so bookmark this page rather than your individual pages. Check out the individual blogs for specific information on your courses: CMC100-1 and CMC100-2. Here is a link to the main wiki page, which has links, sample papers, etc. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
I'm an Assistant Professor of Critical Media and Cultural Studies at Rollins College. I teach a variety of courses, with topics from popular culture to representation to digital media studies, and have published and presented at conferences in multiple fields. My current book, Popular Culture and the Future of American Politics: Cultural Studies and the Tao of South Park, was published in 2009 from Lexington Books, and I have two edited volumes on the way: one on humor and post-9/11 politics, and one on transgression in the digital age.
My Ph.D. comes from the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I also have an MFA in sculpture from the University of Illinois, and two bachelor's degrees (art studio and english literature) from the University of Maryland, College Park.
